Zimbabwe — Thunder, Wilderness and the Zambezi

Zimbabwe is home to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, where the Zambezi River plunges over a mile-wide basalt cliff in a roar of spray and thunder that gave the falls their local name, Mosi-oa-Tunya — "The Smoke That Thunders." Beyond the falls, Zimbabwe's national parks are some of the least crowded and most rewarding in Southern Africa.

Hwange National Park, the country's largest, protects one of Africa's biggest elephant populations alongside lion, buffalo and painted wolves across a mix of Kalahari woodland and open pan. Further along the Zambezi, Mana Pools National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is famous for walking and canoe safaris among elephant, hippo and predators along the river's floodplain, a slower, more intimate way to experience the bush.

Our 10 Days / 9 Nights Africa Safari links Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls with Botswana's Okavango Delta and Chobe riverfront in a single multi-country itinerary — one of the best ways to see this corner of Southern Africa in one trip.
